Digital Legal Services
Bruce Duff, CEO & Founder

Digital Legal Services (DLS) provides law firms and legal practices with advanced, state-of-the-art technological resources for managing legal information in the 21st century.

As a full-service digital legal company, DLS works in partnership with legal professionals to provide comprehensive litigation support using the newest technologies including: high speed scanning, electronic data discovery, database development, laser printing, coding, optical character recognition (OCR), media design and graphics and media and data conversion. In addition, DLS provides traditional legal reprographics.

“In many circumstances, our clients do not understand the full breadth of our services,” says Bruce Duff, chief executive officer and founder of the Wilmington-based company. “Many of our competitors do not have the same technical capabilities as us. Most companies in our business provide legal photocopying. We’ve gotten much more aggressive with our technical capabilities and services,” says Bruce.

"On hold messaging reiterates a lot of our services and it reinforces that we have locations in different cities around the country"

On hold messaging has several benefits for us. Ninety percent of our advertising is through direct sales. We do not do a lot of traditional advertising other than market specific print ads for bar associations or legal publications. On hold messaging reiterates a lot of our services and it reinforces that we have locations in different cities around the country. For example, a client in Wilmington may not realize we have an office in Houston.”

Founded in 1999, DLS has over 300 employees at eight locations including: Wilmington, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., New Orleans, Orlando, Chicago, Houston and Baton Rouge.

Talk about things you normally don’t talk about!

When producing your new on hold message, avoid conveying the obvious. Your client or prospective customer may not be aware of many of your products or services. Talk about your value added products or specialized services. Your client will be intrigued with finding out new information about your company.

When developing your on hold message program, consider the following:

  • Create interest - entice your prospective customer with new information about your company.
  • Show innovation - emphasize what you do differently than your competitors.
  • Emphasize “Value Added” products or services - take this time to inform your existing clients about your “value added” services which complement your main product line.
